Human Design Strategy Wait for an Invitation

Human Design Strategy Wait for an Invitation

Understanding the Wait for an Invitation Strategy in Human Design

In Human Design, the Projector Strategy is to Wait for an Invitation.

Projectors (Orchstrators) represent about 20% of the world’s population and they are known for their unique ability to guide, manage and direct others. Projectors thrive when they wait for recognition and invitation before sharing their insight.

Following your Type’s Strategy is essential for everyone but Projectors are at high risk of burnout when their guidance is not appreciated. When a Projector follows their Strategy it allows them to avoid burnout and bitterness.

To Wait for an invitation can be challenging for Projectors because our society values quick action and those who, “Go for it!.” Projectors do not have a defined Sacral Center, meaning that they do not have access to self-sustaining energy in the way that Generator, or Manifesting Generator, Types do

. By trusting in their Strategy, Projectors who Wait for an Invitation use their energy in the most effective manner.

It is worth noting that an invitation, within the Human Design system,  doesn’t always mean a literal invitation. The invitation is energetic. It may be an inner knowing, a meaningful recognition, or a feeling of appreciation.

This Strategy doesn’t mean that the Projector has to hide away and wait, rather, to wait for an Invitation is about engaging with the universe in ways that are healthy and empowering for the Projector. Projectors are encouraged to use their waiting time to deepen their knowledge and nurture their well-being.

What Human Design Types Utilize Wait for an Invitation?

The beauty of Strategy in Human Design is that your Strategy will always correspond with your Human Design Type.  If you are a Projector, your Strategy will always be to Wait for an Invitation.  Projectors thrive by waiting for recognition and invitation for significant aspects of life such as love, career, or opportunity.

They don’t need to wait for an invitation for small day-to-day things like going out for dinner. Also once a Projector IS invited in – ie a relationship, they don’t have to wait for an invitation to continually engage in that relationship. It’s the initial invitation that’s crucial.

Making Better Decisions with the Wait for an Invitation Strategy

Throughout your Human Design journey, you’ll frequently hear the advice: “Follow your Strategy and Authority.” While Gates, Channels, and even Circuits provide fascinating insights, simply adhering to your Strategy and Authority will lead to significant changes in your life.

Decision-making is directly linked to your Strategy, but your Authority is how you apply it. Your Authority is determined by your defined Centers, as not all Centers carry Authority. Consequently, your Authority depends on your Type and Definition. For clarity, Projector Strategy will always need to Wait for an Invitation but Projectors can have: Emotional, Splenic, Mental, or Self-projected Authority.

Your Authority is also influenced by patterns of social conditioning and your overall well-being. During a Human Design analysis, you’ll learn to recognize patterns of pain and behavior that might be hindering you from fully embracing your true self. By becoming aware of these old patterns, you can start to heal and transform them into profound sources of wisdom. As you clear these old energy patterns, your natural decision-making abilities (your Authority) will function more effectively, allowing you to use your authority in conjunction with your strategy to make better life choices.

It’s crucial to understand that Authority does not override your Strategy; it refines the way you use your strategy, ensuring your decisions and actions align more closely with the overall energy of your chart.

The Job of Inner Authority in Making Decisions

Knowledge of your Human Design type and strategy will allow you to use your authority as a tool to know if an opportunity is right for you. Authority is separated into two categories – Inner and Outer.

In regards to Inner Authority, Ra Uru Hu said, “What you can trust to make decisions, and it is never the mind.”

Inner Authority draws on the internal intelligence we are designed with. This means that when someone with Inner Authority gives themselves permission to tune into their intrinsic knowledge, they have access to all the information they need. The challenge with Inner Authority is shutting off the mind and tuning out the voices of others.

You have Inner Authority when you have Spleen, Solar Plexus, Sacral, or Ego Authority.

The Job of Outer Authority in Making Decisions

Only about 3% of the world’s population has Outer Authority – Mental Projectors and Reflectors. Those designed with Outer Authority are here to give others their perspective and knowledge. Mental Projectors can bounce ideas off of other people to get clarity. Mental Projectors need a solid sounding board that they can trust to voice their ideas or thoughts. Reflectors rely on their Strategy of Waiting for a Lunar Cycle before making decisions.

The Influence of the Wait for an Invitation Strategy on Your Personal Relationships

The Wait for an Invitation Strategy greatly influences a Projector’s personal relationships, fostering deeper connections and mutual respect. Projectors are designed to guide others and to direct energy.  Their insights are incredibly beneficial to others, but these insights are wasted if the Projector does not wait to be energetically invited to share.

In personal relationships, to wait for an Invitation could mean waiting for a clear signal, or straightforward request, for input before offering advice or guidance. This requires patience for the Projector and can be challenging, particularly when the Projector can clearly see a solution or better option.  By Waiting for the Invitation, Projectors protect their precious energy and shield themselves from the bitterness of not being heard by those they are trying to help.

This strategy can also lead to healthier dynamics in interpersonal relationships. When Projectors Wait for an Invitation, they create opportunities to be recognized and invited by others.  This cultivates mutual respect and understanding because the recognition acknowledges the Projector’s wisdom and the other’s readiness to receive it wholeheartedly.

Projectors must also discern whether the invitation is in alignment with their lives. Projectors often fall into the trap of accepting any and all invitations because of their need to be recognized by others. Not every invitation should be accepted and it is vital for the Projector to tune into their Authority when making decisions.

How Wait for an Invitation Shapes Professional Life

Projectors should follow their Strategy to Wait for an Invitation in their professional lives. Projectors are designed with a natural talent for understanding systems, managing energy, and guiding others. These elements of their design are highly beneficial in the workplace. These abilities are most effective when the Projector has been invited into a role or project, ensuring their contributions are appreciated and impactful.

Projectors excel as managers, consultants, or advisors because they can see the big picture and direct energies efficiently. They must still wait for an invitation or recognition – one where their skills are acknowledged and sought after. This approach can seem counterintuitive in a work culture that often rewards the aggressive pursuit of opportunities.

This Strategy also influences the type of work a Projector is drawn to. They thrive in roles that allow them to guide and manage processes, where their insights can be fully developed. Conversely, Projectors may struggle in positions requiring constant, or consistent, energy, because their energy is very different from those of Generators (Alchemists) or Manifesting Generators (Time Benders).

Embracing the Wait for an Invitation Strategy will require a shift in mindset. Rather than actively chasing every opportunity that comes their way, Projectors should focus on developing their skills and expertise while being patient. This approach will naturally attract invitations that align with their abilities and potential.

In a professional setting, invitations can take many forms: a job offer, a request for collaboration, or a recognition of skills leading to new opportunities. By adhering to their strategy, Projectors can achieve professional fulfillment and success on their own terms.

Spiritual Implications of the Wait for an Invitation Strategy

The Wait for an Invitation Strategy also holds profound spiritual implications for Projectors. It’s not just about waiting for the right job or the right relationship; it’s about waiting for life to come to you in its perfect timing. Waiting is about surrendering control and trusting the natural flow of life. This act of surrender can lead to a spiritual understanding and a sense of peace and acceptance.

Many spiritual traditions embrace the concept of surrender or letting go of control as a path to enlightenment. For Projectors, Waiting for the Invitation can be a form of spiritual surrender. This practice of releasing also allows the Projector to decondition from the need to control or force outcomes.

Projector Strategy also encourages self-awareness and self-understanding. As Projectors take the time to wait for the right invitations, they can deepen their understanding of themselves and their place in the world. This journey towards self-knowledge can be a deeply spiritual one, leading to greater self-acceptance and spiritual growth.

Bitterness and Waiting for the Invitation

When a Projector is not following their Strategy of Waiting for the Invitation they will feel bitter. Bitterness doesn’t feel good, but it is the Projector’s internal alarm to realign to their Strategy. Waiting can be hard, and our world tells us to get up and go, or take initiative.  But a Projector needs to wait for the right invitations in order to be successful. It is a shock for many Projectors to learn that they really need to be patient in order to be successful.

Projectors often struggle with boundaries.  The open Sacral Center makes it very challenging to know when enough is truly enough. Here is an example: Steve, a Projector, desperately wants to move up in his company. While the job requires a typical 9-5 schedule, Steve comes in early and stays late. He even works from home on weekends. Steve has wholly embraced the idea of being a go-getter, and often gives his co-workers ideas.

As time goes on, Steve gets really frustrated, and bitter, because he hasn’t been promoted and it is very obvious his co-workers are not receptive to his ideas.

Steve has pushed his boundaries and the boundaries of those around him. As a Projector, Steve must Wait for the Invitation, and respect his unique energy.

Overcoming Challenges Associated with the Wait for an Invitation Strategy

Embracing the Strategy of Wait for an Invitation can pose challenges, especially in our society that values those who are assertive and go-getters. It can be challenging for Projectors to Wait for Invitations when others seem to be taking action and getting opportunities. Watching others make progress can lead to feelings of stagnation or frustration.

The first step to overcoming these challenges with waiting is to understand and accept that as a Projector you have a unique energy. It’s essential to accept that waiting is not about fear or being passive. Strategic waiting aligns with the Projector’s access to energy.

During periods of waiting, Projectors can work on developing their skills, gain more knowledge, and spend time resting (essential for Projector well-being) in between invitations. This approach may not feel proactive but it is in this proactive preparation that the Projector opens themselves to the right invitation.
